History
The First Coast Volleyball Association was previously the Jacksonville Volleyball Club. The Jacksonville Volleyball Club (JVC), began merely as a group of friends who enjoyed the sport of volleyball, and decided to gather occasionally for pick up games. In the spirit of competition, the friends began holding small friendly tournaments for bragging rights and not much more. The small tournaments evolved into larger events as the number of participants in these make-shift tournaments grew season after season forcing the friends to get organized, and the JVC was born. The intent of the JVC was to bring together local enthusiasts of the sport and provide facilities for the sport of beach volleyball to be enjoyed in the greater Jacksonville area.
In 2010, the JVC has been renamed the First Coast Volleyball Association (FCVA). The original mission to foster the sport of beach and indoor volleyball in northeast Florida is still the primary focus. But along with providing places to compete, the FCVA now acts as fundraisers for various local programs and charities. This way the volleyball community can not only enjoy their sport, but can also provide even greater benefit to the community as a whole.
Currently we run a series of large and small beach events during the spring/summer season, and hold an annual winter indoor tournament where players can win cash, merchadise and of course bragging rights still. See you on the beach.
